Romano makes teasing Thuram claim for Spurs

Writing on Twitter, transfer journalist and reliable source Fabrizio Romano has made a teasing Tottenham Hotspur transfer claim involving Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram.

The Lowdown: Spurs and Thuram…

Reports emerged very recently of Tottenham’s interest in the Bundesliga forward, with RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi breaking the news (Twitter).

Indeed, the reporter claimed that Spurs have entered ‘advanced discussions’ over the player and a move to north London is on the cards this summer (Twitter).

It is said that, one way or another, Thuram ‘will leave’ Monchengladbach this summer.

The Latest: Romano makes teasing Thuram claim…

Backing Bouhafsi’s claim, Italian reporter Romano has come out with an update of his own in regards to the Frenchman.

Replying to sports page ‘The Goalpost’ on social media, the journalist refused to rule out Thuram to Spurs this summer and claimed it is indeed ‘possible’.

“Possible as @mohamedbouhafsi reported! Let’s see after manager appointment.” explained Romano (via Twitter).

The Verdict: Teasing boost for Spurs?

Often a reliable source, Spurs supporters could be boosted by Romano backing reports of Thuram’s possible move to Spurs this summer.

However, with plenty still to do in regards to officially announcing their new manager, it will certainly be an interesting few weeks ahead.

Spurs will need to adopt a sell-to-buy policy this summer and fund any incomings with just as many outgoings.

The club have started laying groundwork for a big window of change, with defender Juan Foyth already out the exit door after Villarreal triggered his option to buy clause.

Signing Thuram would certainly be a statement of intent given his impressive 1.6 completed dribbles per 90 last season, more than anyone in the Monchengladbach squad (WhoScored).

He also averaged 2 shots every Bundesliga match, and there are arguably few more highly-rated prospects than Thuram in German football.
